Hudson Valley Photographer { Danielle }

Here’s some images from another shoot I did last summer.  This shoot was a total blast!  This is another local model Danielle.  She was fun to work with, because she’s extremely intelligent, and had interesting things to talk about.  I love working with people that you can actually have a conversation with.  It makes getting great shots so much easier.  Another fun fact, I recently ran into her, and she was all cute and preggers.  Which was totally adorable.

We had perfect light for this shoot, which was great.  I was so happy to get some good golden light for this shoot, because it worked so well with her red hair.  I have to say there’s a special place in my heart for red heads.  Their hair just wo

Hudson Valley Engagement Photography { Jess and Liam }

Well it’s certainly been a while since I’ve posted any engagement work up on my blog.  I’ve been so busy with the other sides of my business it’s been a challenge to find time to do the engagement work that I love doing.  I got a great chance to go out to San Francisco and photograph this wonderful couple.  They were truly special to work with, and I was really happy with the way the images came out.  Be sure to inquire about my rates if you’re interested in my engagement photography.

Hudson Valley Photographer { Commercial Business Headshots Dr. Gendel }

First off if you’re looking for a Hudson Valley Photographer check out my main website.

I recently had a chance to do some head-shots for a local psychiatrist for use on some local publications.  I really loved being able to learn from the experience and have a good chance to show off a few different ways in which you can get a business portrait, and some ways where you can make your head shots really pop.

I think my first caveat to getting some great business head shots is to make sure that you are using good off camera lighting.  Without off camera lighting you’re not going to get that nice soft light that

Hudson Valley Photographer { Urban Decay }

First off if you’re looking for a Hudson Valley Photographer feel free to check out my main website.

It’s certainly rare that I do a series.  I find when I go out shooting that most of the time I end up with one or two photographs that I really like and everything else is just not up to par.  So I went out recently with a theme in mind, and I wanted to try and put together a whole series of shots.  And look at my film on a whole, and come up with a much larger set of shots.

I had been doing a bit of location scouting and driving around a bunch of really weird locations to try and find something along the lines of urban decay.

I wanted to show off a few shots that I did for a recent wedding that I shot.  I just loved working with this couple.  They are truly in love, and the greatest part is how much you can see that in the photos.  I had such a fun day with them.  Anyways everyone say Hi to Dave and Julia.

I had a blast shooting this wedding because it was in City Park.  I was a little nervous about shooting a whole wedding in such a natural location

Hudson Valley Photographer { Digital Painting Tips and Tricks }

First off if you’re looking for a professional Hudson Valley Photographer please take a look at my portfolio.

I know really this is a photography blog, and should really be showcasing my photography work, but I just can’t seem to get enough of this whole digital painting thing.  Honestly this is some of the most fun I’ve had creating artwork in a really long time.  I don’t know what it is about doing this form of painting that has me so entranced.  It seems like every day I come home with a new “project” of something else to paint.  It’

Hudson Valley Photographer { New Photoshop Mixer Brushes }

So I recently bought one of those Wacom pen tablets.  I really wish I would have done it sooner.  It has been so much fun playing with this thing!  I love how I can make really awesome looking brush strokes on a digital canvas.  It’s totally wild.  Now I do have the advantage of using photoshop CS5’s new Mixer brushes, and I have to say I’m totally amazed by how great they look.  Honestly it’s like painting with a real brush in your hand.  It does take a little getting use to with the whole hand eye coordination of making strokes on something below the screen while watching it happen on your monitor.  Sadly I’ve been too busy playing with digital painting to try my hand at some really

Using Texture in Photographs Hudson Valley Photographer

I know this isn’t my usual engagement photography posts.  I’ve been doing a lot of personal projects lately.  Like I said in my last post, I’m really trying to expand my photography, or in this case get back to something I love in photography….. Textures.  When I first started doing digital photography all I ever used was textures.  I didn’t have a nice enough camera to actually pull off good shots so I had to mask my poor shots with lots of textures.  In reality this actually works pretty well.  If you look at programs like hipstamatic for the Iphone, it takes “great” shots.  Because the Iphone has such a poor camera,

Playing with Textures { Abstract Photography Hudson Valley }

I can’t believe how inspired I’ve felt lately.  Not only to create amazing portraits, but also to do some abstract work, which I haven’t done much of lately.  I’m finally starting to get more free time, and feel less stressed out at work, and thusly my photography prospers because of it.  I love creating, and it can be especially fun with abstracts when you have such a blank canvas it becomes difficult to find focal points, and put meaning into shots.  So instead I just try and make them look cool. Just kidding.  Even with my abstract shots I try and put “emotion” into them.  I realize that my abstract photography might not always have that “emotion”
