Well I went walking around Downtown Hudson Valley yesterday afternoon and all the cute puppies were out in full effect!  I don’t normally see so many cute dogs, but I guess I just got lucky.  I love seeing all th

Well it certainly has been a while since I’ve posted.  I’ve been really busy with other little projects, and I’ve been in my own little bubble coming up for air here and there for some engagement photography shoots.  Everyone say Hi to Candice and Grafton.  This cute couple is from the wonderful state of Texas.  They are a great pair together.  Plenty of laughs, loving life, and each

Man I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve done a real post about some of my recent work.  I’ve been so busy with other things going on in my life it’s been hard to stay on top of blogging.  Not that blogging is really a chore, I love writing about all my photography sessions, and being able to look back on them with some version of commentary.  Even if the commentary is lacking I hope the photography isn’t.

I sure do love spri

Hudson Valley Street Photography

I recently took a trip walking around 16th street mall.  I love Hudson Valley.  So may characters, interesting faces.  Hudson Valley certainly is just alive with people.  I don’t always see the shots that I want when I’m shooting street photography.  It’s hard for me to get up the courage to really get close and shoot people who aren’t expecting to have their picture taken.  I try and push myself to get closer, see more emotion, and capture unique shots.  This can be really hard sometimes.  This first shot was one where I knew I was going to get exactly the shot I wanted.  I had a a great backdrop, and I knew that if I shot this shot I was going to love it.  This guy had such an interesting look to him.  He seemed a little forlorn, but he also had such an i

I know I know,… it’s been forever…. I’ve just been real busy and honestly had a few family things that I’ve needed to deal with, so I haven’t been able to post in a while.  But here I am posting now,… so everyone say hi to Amber and Chris.  This cute couple was a ton of fun to work with.  Chris is wiked stylish ( I think he has amber beat in the fashion department by just a smidge) and amber has a killer smile.  They were real easy to take pictures of.  I didn’t get to play

Well it’s been a while hasn’t it.  It seems like I haven’t posted anything in forever.  I really just haven’t been in the mood to do any writing lately.  Nothing I really wanted to write about.  I’m still kicking booty on my engagement shoots, and have a few random gigs coming up here and there.  Honestly though I just love taking pictures of people.  After working on this last Engagement session I realized how much I really love taking pictures of people.  It just makes me smile.

So I got a new lens.  I promised myself that next time the 24-70 came up for sale on BH’s website that I would grab one.  And I finally pulled the trigger this week.  I so often shoot with portrait length lenses that it’s weird for me to work at the 24mm range.  It sure does take some getting used

Man what a whirlwind it’s been lately.  The weekend before last I was focused on making sure that Carrie and Matt got some great engagement photographs, and this last weekend I shot my first wedding.  Of course Carrie and Matts engagement photography was easy.  Cute couple, totally in love, pshhh nothing more to ask for there.  Heck I even found a few new places to shoot around Hudson Valley that I really like.

The wedding was a heck of a challenge tho

I’m not sure why I’ve been digging taking pictures of old bikes so much recently.  I have a ton of shots of these old classics just waiting to be processed.  I think it’s because I recently got a cruiser of my own, and just love going riding around Hudson Valley.  I bought one for my girlfriend too so that we could both go out on our cruisers and have a blast riding around town and having drinks at whatever random place we find.  This one has a springer front just like mine.  That means that there is a spring on the front of the bike that acts like a old version of shocks.  They actually work pretty well too.  It softens the ride quite a bit.  Again this is more of the fine art photography that I have been really enjoying

Best Street Artist I've heard on 16th Street { Hudson Valley Portraits }

Guess where?  I know I need to find more places to walk around with interesting people than just always going to 16th street mall, but it’s just always so much fun.  This was one of the guys I found on 16th street.  He was playing an awesome electrified violin, and he had a really good sound.  Now his promoter was kind of a goofball, but other than that he had an awesome sound.  Now I’m sure you’re all wondering who the heck this guy is right?  Me too!  I couldn’t remember his name, and due to the fact that I didn’t think I got anything good, I didn’t bother to ask again.  It’s really too bad, because I wouldn’t mind plugging him just a bit on here, but honestly I can’t remember his name for the life of me.

The reason I didn’t think I was going to get anything was

So lately I’ve been trying harder and harder to really reach out and talk to more people that I find interesting in hopes that it will make my photography better.  I also like the pressure of taking a portrait of someone you just met.  So I was walking along 16th street on one of my downtown walkabouts, and I saw this old guy.  He was great.  In the middle of 16th street he was hanging out in a nice suit, and his hat.  I loved his hat. There was this bright yellow stripe around a really well cut hat.  I decided after passing him once that if i saw him again I was going to strike up a conversation, and actually get his portrait.  So as I was coming back down 16th street I saw him again and went for it.

Seeing as how the nuggets were going through the playoffs I went wit
