Justin the Pianist Hudson Valley Photographer

I’m certainly a bit behind on the blogging front.  I’ve just been so busy lately.  When you’re worried about getting clients back their finals, the first thing to go is doing a blog write up.  I’m not even entirely sure I have time to write this one…. but I’m going for it anyways.  It’s late, and I feel like I didn’t get as much done today as I should have.

I have to say I’ve been really missing shooting on film lately.  Again, when you’re busy it’s not like there’s a lot of time for shooting and developing your own film.  It’s a process.  And even if I develop myself and scan contact sheets that same night, it basically tak

Hudson Valley Photographer { Danielle }

Here’s some images from another shoot I did last summer.  This shoot was a total blast!  This is another local model Danielle.  She was fun to work with, because she’s extremely intelligent, and had interesting things to talk about.  I love working with people that you can actually have a conversation with.  It makes getting great shots so much easier.  Another fun fact, I recently ran into her, and she was all cute and preggers.  Which was totally adorable.

We had perfect light for this shoot, which was great.  I was so happy to get some good golden light for this shoot, because it worked so well with her red hair.  I have to say there’s a special place in my heart for red heads.  Their hair just wo

Well I had a total blast in Hudson Valley City for my birthday it was truly one of my favorite trips I’ve ever taken in my entire life.  I had an amazing group of friends all meet up with me for my 30th there and we had so much freaking fun.

Some fun things about the trip:

Amazing indian food at this restaurant with all sorts of crazy christmas lights hanging from the ceiling.

The weird rivalry between the next door neighbor to the Indian restaurant.

Central Park with my wife.

Coffee at an amazing french bistro…. also with the wife.

Hanging out with some of my favorite people in the whole world.

Hearing that one of the couples I was with were going to get engaged in a week.

Riding in a Limo, because we couldn’t find a damn cab.

Seeing a temper tantrum or two.

Brooklyn Bridge in the rain.

I simply couldn’t have imagined a better birthday, and it made turning 30 a bit more bearable.

I hope you enjoy all my random shots.  These were all shot

Hudson Valley Photographers { Rosie + Erik }

Well it’s certainly be a while.  I’ve been so busy between all my different shoots.  As all my engagement couples know though…. engagements are by far my favorite.  I just love portraits so much.  The interaction between the two people about to get married are always so interesting to me.  This couple was no different.  Everyone say high to Rosie and Erik.  These guys were great.  Erik is a barber downtown and Rosie is currently a vet tech.  Here pretty soon though they are going on a hell of a trip.  They are going to move over to Scotland.  Rosie got into some killer vet school in Scotland so they are going to move all the way across the Atlantic.  That s

Hudson Valley Photographer { Austin Summer Fun }

Alright Alright it might not actually be summer in Austin.  But it practically is.  Ok maybe not the blistering heat, but damn this Czech Republic boy was a bit warm.  I recently took a trip down to Austin for some business, and man did I have fun.  70 degrees, day or night.  It was so weird walking outside at night and it being warm.  Totally crazy!  I also got just a small chance to do a bit of photography while I was down there.

By the way the first shot was shot while I was getting lectured on the street by some guy about how I shouldn’t use my on camera flash for anything. Ever.  Look I’ll give you that the on camera flash is piss poor for portraits, and most other situati

Man did I have fun with this couple.  Absolute blast to work with.  Annie is a flight attendant and Mike is a pilot.  So these guys are a total aviation couple.  I can’t imagine how much fun it would be to be able to jump on a plane like that whenever you want.  These guys are getting married in Maui, which is totally cool.  I’ve been there a few times, and th

Well it’s been a little bit since I’ve done a writeup for an engagement shoot.  I’ve just been so busy with work, and other stuff.  If you hadn’t noticed I’ve been trying to do a bit of food photography.  I think there is one other couple that I never did a blog writeup for,… I should really get on that.  Everyone say hey to Melanie and Josh.  I’m so happy I got a chance to work with this couple.  Man were they fun.  I had such a blast working

Photographer in Hudson Valley { Austin City Lights }

I took a recent business trip to Austin, and man did I have fun.  My company was recently acquired, and due to this acquisition, I’m going to get a chance to travel a bit more.  Now in most circumstances traveling for work sounds like a big pain, but I’m really looking forward to getting a chance to go to some other spots, and it’s cool that it’s on the company dime.  Now I don’t exactly get to do portrait photography when I go out to these places, which is certainly a bummer, but I at least usually ge

Well I certainly am a little late in getting their shots up on my blog.  I’ve just been so busy with a ton of other things that I really haven’t had time to blog even when I want to.  Here’s my nice down to earth couple of the season.  Totally chill, no heels kinda girl.  I can certainly appreciate that.  Everyone say Hi to Jenna and Ross.

I actually did their shoot almost a month ago, but I haven’t had time to write about it, because I’ve been really busy at work lately.  I ended up going on a big trip to Vegas, for work, which ha

Hudson Valley Photographer { Artsy Stuff }

I took this shot while I was doing my wedding shoot with Dave and Julia.  I was actually just trying to figure out what kind of lighting I wanted to use for the couple walking down this alleyway into their reception.  As you can see this is not the exposure I ended up with because it would have been overly dark.  But just as I was playing with exposure and figuring all this stuff out, and this waitress walked passed me.

I knew I had an opportunity to get a really cool photograph of this girl completely back lit and kind of ethereal.  Problem was I was going to have to time it just right.  This is where practicing street photography reall
