Things to think about for your Acting Headshot { Hudson Valley Acting Headshot Photographer }

Whenever I work with actors I try and walk them through a few things they should know about their headshots.  A lot of the people that come to me, aren’t exactly seasoned veterans, so I often times have a chance to really help people out on their headshots.  I also love being able to take my experience in fashion photography and really apply it to making some awesome headshots.  Here’s some things to think about.

1. Color or Black and White?

So a lot of people don’t understand the history here.  Back in the day it was much much cheaper to print black and white headshots.  The ink was much cheaper, so a lot of actors went with this option.

I sure did have a nice weekend this weekend.  The fiance and I spent Sunday running errands, but the fun part is realizing how much fun we have together.  We really do enjoy each others company so much, and we make running errands fun.  I know we’re a bit gross, but whatever.  Hell we even finished off the day with some doughnuts from Dunkin.  And if that’s not a way to finish out a day, I don’t know what is.

Lynzi was running around pulling together some props for a shoot she wants to do that’s very Tim Walker.  I’m excited to see how her shots turn out.  I already helped her figure out what she wanted to do with the lighting so she could get

So a while ago I had the chance to work with this wonderful gentleman on some headshots.  I actually really enjoy doing corporate headshots, because I feel like if you don’t actually take the time to learn a little bit about the personality of the person you simply won’t get a good picture of them.  It’s always been clear to me that taking that extra 10 minutes if you have the time can make or break a shoot like this.

He was interested in getting some shots done, because he wanted something new and modern to put up on his website that he was building.  He was putting together marketing collateral to market himself as a sales speaker.  Which I certainly thought was cool.  I think

I sure do love doing portraits.  Now these are certainly more on the fashion side of things, but at the end of the day I feel like I am kind of a portrait artist.  I just capture the personality of the person in them, and Luccia is certainly a fashion girl.  Well, when she’s not tuning her subaru.  Luccia, and I always have a blast when we work together.  I’ll never forget the first time I worked with her.  I felt like she was a model who was ‘out of my league’.  She had already worked with so many great photographers, why would she want to work with me?  Since then we’ve worked together a few times, and created some amazing images.  She’s a total blast to work with, and is why I think we can get some great stu

You know it’s kinda sad, you work so hard on putting together an editorial, and then so many of the images don’t end up making it into your portfolio.  They might be good, but they’re not as great as the other images.  I don’t even usually end up posting them to facebook like I should.  It takes so long for the editorial to come out, and then by the time the editorial comes out, you’re a bit tired of looking at the images.  That and I’ve been really annoyed with facebook lately.  They changed the way that they show followers your images which means that my photography doesn’t get seen by all the people who have liked my page.  It’s frustrating, and seriously depressing.  You work so hard to build a following on

Collabo Night Hudson Valley Photographer

So I never really got a chance to write up something for these shots.  This shoot was a total, blast, and I got to work with some of my favorite people in the industry around here.  We had a big collaboration night at one of my buddies studio spaces.  It was great getting a ton of creative people together in a room to create some amazing art.  Yes there was a bit of booze involved, but it was all in good fun.  The models that we had on set that night were fantastic.  This first one is Manda, and she’s one of my all time favorites, everytime we work together we end up getting some great work together.  We even had some ruckus apparel to use for this shoot, which was fun, and those guys are pretty awesome
