Tyler Vines Hudson Valley Photographer

I recently had a great chance to work with one of the nicest models here in Hudson Valley.  Everyone say hi to Tyler.  She’s an absolute blast to work with.  We wanted to create a few different looks.  I had been really digging the teal shadow look lately so that was one of the first things we worked on.  I love how it adds interesting edge light to the shadows when you use a teal fill.  This is a simple two light setup, where the side light is gelled.

We had a ton of fun working together.  Tyler and I have worked together before, once, at a big collaboration here in Hudson Valley, and Tyler has worked with my girlfriend a ton of times.  The great thing about tyler is that she has one of the prettiest faces I’ve ever s

Hudson Valley Photographer { Danielle }

Here’s some images from another shoot I did last summer.  This shoot was a total blast!  This is another local model Danielle.  She was fun to work with, because she’s extremely intelligent, and had interesting things to talk about.  I love working with people that you can actually have a conversation with.  It makes getting great shots so much easier.  Another fun fact, I recently ran into her, and she was all cute and preggers.  Which was totally adorable.

We had perfect light for this shoot, which was great.  I was so happy to get some good golden light for this shoot, because it worked so well with her red hair.  I have to say there’s a special place in my heart for red heads.  Their hair just wo

Look at me being better about doing writups on my blog.  All of these images were shot last springtime, but that’s just how far behind on blogging I am.  It’s terrible, I never know what to write about, and I end up yammering on about how much I miss the springtime/summertime.  But yeah the summer has finally come.  Well spring I guess.  And I couldn’t be more excited to get some great shots done this time of year.   I’ve got a bunch of shoots lined up that I’m super excited for.  I want to make this the year that some of my model portfolio headshots make it into a major agency book.  The hard part about that, is that I’ll have to actually start making it out to L.A. or SF more this year.  I don’t think that w

Hudson Valley Engagement Photography { Jess and Liam }

Well it’s certainly been a while since I’ve posted any engagement work up on my blog.  I’ve been so busy with the other sides of my business it’s been a challenge to find time to do the engagement work that I love doing.  I got a great chance to go out to San Francisco and photograph this wonderful couple.  They were truly special to work with, and I was really happy with the way the images came out.  Be sure to inquire about my rates if you’re interested in my engagement photography.

Man life has been busy lately.  I’ve been in Vegas for the last week.  And while that was a ton of fun I’m not going to lie.  I’m spent.  It’s been a long week.  Worked a ton, and gambled and drank until my liver finally said enough.

I’ve been having a ton of fun with my photography lately.  And I’m getting really bummed about winter/fall coming.  As much as I like my hoodies, and fleeces, I’m going to miss shooting cool clothes in the natural light.  I’ve really been getting back to shooting less studio, and more natural light stuff and it’s been a blast to say the least.  That’s what I love about photography, it’s always new and excited whenever you get out of your comfort

Hudson Valley Portrait Photographer My 30th Birthday in Hudson Valley

Well I had a total blast in Hudson Valley City for my birthday it was truly one of my favorite trips I’ve ever taken in my entire life.  I had an amazing group of friends all meet up with me for my 30th there and we had so much freaking fun.

Some fun things about the trip:

Amazing indian food at this restaurant with all sorts of crazy christmas lights hanging from the ceiling.

The weird rivalry between the next door neighbor to the Indian restaurant.

Central Park with my wife.

Coffee at an amazing french bistro…. also with the wife.

Hanging out with some of my favorite people in the whole world.

Hearing that one of the couples I was with were going to get engaged in a week.

Riding in a Limo, because we couldn’t find a damn cab.

Seeing a temper tantrum or two.

Brooklyn Bridge in the rain.

I simply couldn’t have imagined a better birthday, and it made turning 30 a bit more bearable.

I hope you enjoy all my random shots.  These were all shot

Well it’s been another crazy week around my studio.  I’ve had tons of new stuff to work on.  Fun new projects.  All sorts of ways that I’m trying to stay creative.  It’s been a challenge for me lately.  I feel a bit stifeled in my studio.  I can’t just keep doing the same stuff over and over, and expect new or exciting results.  I think that’s why I’ve been venturing outside my studio so much lately.  I can’t wait to show off the series that I did this weekend.  So much fun, and I got to work with an old friend at this point so that’s cool too.  I love catching up with people in the fashion ind

Hudson Valley Portrait Photographer { Brandi Senior Shots }

I took a nice little hiatus this summer with my wedding, my honeymoon and all sorts of other wild and crazy things that were going on this summer.  I did however get the chance to do some senior portraits for my new cousin in law, who by the way, is a total doll.  I don’t really do a ton of senior portraits, but of course I love portrait work.  I also got a chance to learn a ton about my new cousin in law.  She’s interested in acting, and she really wants to go out to NYU for college.

As it’s not really my style I decided not to do any of the shots where she leaned her head on a fake tree.  I tried to do my best to take her senior shots in a more fashion, and edgy direction.

Hudson Valley Portrait Photographer { Symantha Country Music Shoot }

Oye it’s been a while, but I’ve been so busy planning my own wedding it’s a bit hard to shoot other peoples weddings/engagements/portraits.  These shots are from a bit ago, and I’m stoked to finally get to post them.  I had a total blast on this shoot with Symantha.  She came to me wanting some nice portraits for her website/promotional stuff.  She’s a country music singer and wanted a bit of a country look to her portrait session.  I”m not gonna lie, this isn’t the majority of my work.  I mainly do a downtown feel.  I’m an urban guy, and I certainly know the urban scene, and I have an urban eye.  But every time I step out of my comfort zone I l

Grilled Salmon = Yum.  No Seriously.  I recently had a chance to do a bit of food photography which was a total blast.  I always forget how stressful food is to shoot though.  It’s not easy.  I realize it doesn’t move, it can’t show emotion, but it’s a real challenge to get something that looks nice on a plate without it ending up looking dead and dried out.  I have noticed a recent trend of photographers to get into food photography, but not putting in the hard work it takes to learn how to light food.  Yes I know surprising but it’s complicated to light food.  And also surprising is the fact that you light food a
