Hudson Valley Photographer { Fashion Shoot for Publication in LaDamme with Rebecca }

I recently got a chance to work on some published fashion work with one of the models in Hudson Valley.   I love doing this editorial style of work, but it’s always hard to find time, wardrobe, and enough ideas to actually put together an editorial.  I guess I honestly just don’t have that many ideas when it comes to being an editorial photographer, even though I sure do love it.  This is Rebecca, and we worked together to create a gritty moody editorial piece for LaDamme magazine out of France.  It was a blast to shoot this one, and we actually had the cops called on us for trespassing which was both hilarious, and a little worrisome all at the same time.  It was still a blast to shoot t

Well if you can’t tell I’ve been trying to catch up on all my blogging lately.  It’s about time I start taking my blogging more seriously, as it certainly does affect how my website performs.  This time I’m going to talk through a portfolio session I put together for one of the local Hudson Valley models sarah weeks.  She currently works with wilhelmina here in Hudson Valley, which is an awesome agency, and I was happy to get a chance to shoot her.  She was super easy to work with, and I feel like we got some great shots.  Shots that show a bit of emotion, and something dynamic for Sarah.

See I’m already doing better staying on top of my bloggin…. I’m already patting myself on the back.  I’m going to try and make this part of my saturday afternoon, is getting a few blog posts out to keep people up to date on what I’m up to these days.  I’ve been hanging out with a few Hudson Valley photographers and that’s been a real blast lately.  It’s so much fun meeting other photographers and talking shop, talking models, lighting…. all the drama in this biz.  It’s totally fun.  I’ve also just redesigned my whole website.  Blog not included.  I’m thinking about leaving the blog for a while.  I don’t really feel like changing it, and it’s a big pain, and lets be honest nobod

Well if you guys can’t tell, I’m really into my fashion photography lately.  I’ve been putting a ton of effort into both learning and growing as an artist.  For those of you who don’t know, when I got into photography this was what I aspired to do.  And while it probably won’t ever pay the bills, it will remain to be a part of my artistic being.  I can’t tell you how giddy and excited I get by this style of portrait work.

I say portrait work because to me, I’m so interested in capturing an emotion in the moment of the shot.  I love that feeling that you’re peering through a window that maybe you shouldn’t be.  That you’ve caught some interesting precipito

I’ve been doing so much fashion photography lately, and I just love it.  It’s such a blast for me to be able to be super creative.  I love being able to come up with things that I can’t do on wedding or engagement photography.  Because of all that I finally rented my own studio space.  Which is awesome!  I’m so excited about it.  I just moved in a few days ago, and already I’m super happy about it.  It gives me the space I need to really work, which is something that i just couldn’t do when I was shooting out of my garage.  So here’s to me taking my photography to the next level!  Wish me luck.

Hudson Valley Fashion Photographer { Rebecca and Sidney.... What a pair }

In the interest of getting better and posting more frequently…. I’m going to start posting more pictures from my shoots and less discussion.  If you’re interested in knowing more about my lighting, hit me up in the comments and I’ll be glad to help you out.

These 2 girls were such a pair, we worked together on a bit of portfolio building for all of us, and man did we have some fun.  Here are a few of the different looks we were able to come up with while they were in my studio.

I should say Rebecca (the one in the orange shirt up there), is a helluva photographer in her own right, which is always interesting working with another photographer.  It can be bot

Kelly on MM

Wow winter sure did come out of nowhere.  Man I wish I would have had just a bit more time with all these wonderful fall colors.  I was such a gorgeous fall.  I think that fall has to be one of my favorite seasons warm, great colors, never too hot,  great lighting.  I mean honestly what more could you ask for.

I tell you what…. a killer model.  I haven’t had much of a chance to do any model / fashion / beauty photography lately.  I’ve been busy with life.  Working on a flagstone patio. Enjoying s

Hudson Valley Portrait Photographer { Brandi Senior Shots }

I took a nice little hiatus this summer with my wedding, my honeymoon and all sorts of other wild and crazy things that were going on this summer.  I did however get the chance to do some senior portraits for my new cousin in law, who by the way, is a total doll.  I don’t really do a ton of senior portraits, but of course I love portrait work.  I also got a chance to learn a ton about my new cousin in law.  She’s interested in acting, and she really wants to go out to NYU for college.

As it’s not really my style I decided not to do any of the shots where she leaned her head on a fake tree.  I tried to do my best to take her senior shots in a more fashion, and edgy direction.

I know everyone is a little tired of seeing shots from this fashion show, but seeing as how I worked on a few more I might as well post them, and talk about them each. Again it’s so weird to me how much more work is involved in fashion photography.  Really it’s so much more of a challenge, getting all the hair right, the makeup spot on, colors perfect, everything has to work so well together.

Anyways for this first shot I didn’t do too much, again I just cleaned up all the fly aways smoothed out her skin a bit, an

I hate putting all this portrait orientated shots on my blog, because I don’t feel like they work as well as the landscape oriented shots, but whatcha gonna do.  I could make them smaller, but I like my work to be shown at a decent enough size that you can really get a feel for the shot, and see some detail.  For instance on this shot I did a ton of post work, hopefully none of which you can see.  Fashion is weird like that, it involves so much more than the more natural look of my engagement photography.  Not that I don’t do post work on my engagement photography, but it’s more about contrast and color, and less about makeup, fly aways and bone structure.

I really shouldn’t make it sound like all the post work I did h
