Linger Denver Food Photographer

I had an amazing opportunity to work with a new resteraunt in my area called linger on a featured desert that’s going to be featured in an online magazine called tastingtable.com.  I’m really stoked about this whole shoot.  It really was a blast, and I forgot how much I miss working with food photography.  It’s both wonderfully challenging and oddly interesting.  It’s really amazing how hard it can be to photograph something that is seemingly so freaking simple.  It’s still, it doesn’t move, but without the perfect light and colors that are perfect it will come out looking surprisingly weird.  Food photography is both about focus and lighting, and well we all know how interesting I think lighting is.

Fashion Photography Denver Kelly

Kelly on MM

Wow winter sure did come out of nowhere.  Man I wish I would have had just a bit more time with all these wonderful fall colors.  I was such a gorgeous fall.  I think that fall has to be one of my favorite seasons warm, great colors, never too hot,  great lighting.  I mean honestly what more could you ask for.

Denver Portrait Photographer Country Photoshoot

Oye it’s been a while, but I’ve been so busy planning my own wedding it’s a bit hard to shoot other peoples weddings/engagements/portraits.  These shots are from a bit ago, and I’m stoked to finally get to post them.  I had a total blast on this shoot with Symantha.  She came to me wanting some nice portraits for her website/promotional stuff.  She’s a country music singer and wanted a bit of a country look to her portrait session.  I”m not gonna lie, this isn’t the majority of my work.  I mainly do a downtown feel.  I’m an urban guy, and I certainly know the urban scene, and I have an urban eye.  But every time I step out of my comfort zone I learn something about myself, and my photography.  You know how much fun that is?  So I was super excited to do this shoot, and after meeting Symantha I knew we were going to have a blast on our shoot.

Food Photographer in Denver Salmon Shoot

Grilled Salmon = Yum.  No Seriously.  I recently had a chance to do a bit of food photography which was a total blast.  I always forget how stressful food is to shoot though.  It’s not easy.  I realize it doesn’t move, it can’t show emotion, but it’s a real challenge to get something that looks nice on a plate without it ending up looking dead and dried out.  I have noticed a recent trend of photographers to get into food photography, but not putting in the hard work it takes to learn how to light food.  Yes I know surprising but it’s complicated to light food.  And also surprising is the fact that you light food almost exactly opposite from how you would light a portrait.  Which for a portrait photographer is a hard thing to grasp.  I think the people who would have the easiest time jumping into food photography would be the ones who only shoot macro’s.  Something I’m not sure there is much professional market for, but they would have the easiest time understanding focus and lighting when it comes to food.

Denver Photographers Winter Leaves

First off if you’re looking for Denver Photographers check out my main website.

Well I guess winter finally decided to show up.  It’s amazing how quickly the weather can change here in Colorado.  I love the weather here in Denver 90% of the time.  But when it gets below 0,  that’s when it’s just a bit too cold for me.  I can only handle so much cold, and that’s just too much cold for me.  I also have managed to get a bit of a cold, which kinda sucks because I’ve really wanted to work on some photography lately.  I think by me working on SEO so much lately, I’ve been able to see a bunch of different peoples photography and I’ve managed to find a ton of inspiring characters around the country.  I’ve also managed to find a ton of great creative ideas that I can’t wait to try out on some of my clients.  There is a great idea I have involving balloons, but I just have to figure out how to make it work on an engagement shoot.
